I was so happy to see we were getting more of the Dawson family, especially a chance at redemption for Dean. He was kind of a butt in the previous books, unhappy marriage aside.
Reeling from his divorce, Dean has no interest in love. Been there, done that, got a divorce. He’s only interested in hooking up- feelings need not apply. Rory was all that I hoped for: strong, weird, nice. After losing her job, her boyfriend, and her apartment in one day, she had officially hit rock bottom. A chance at a better job in a new town was exactly the fresh start she needed. Dean and Rory meet in what is supposed to be a one night stand, but their paths seem determined to cross. The sparks between them are immense, and they really enjoy spending time together. Can Dean overcome his past and learn to love again?
I really enjoyed the book, especially seeing the Dawson gang again. Quinn is a favorite of mine, and I love all those Dawson boys. I was glad to see Dean get his HEA and sad the series has come to an end (again). I do think this story is definitely for fans of the series, I wouldn’t start with this one.

My Take:
Oh boy did I love this book. It’s no surprise as the first three books were on my best of 2019 list, and this one did not disappoint. The writing is so warm, it feels like a hug. Henry DeSantis … yowza.
It’s nice to read about adults going through adult issues, like divorce, infertility, dating as a single mother, etc. It’s super relatable for me as these are the things my friends are going through as we move through our 30s

“That would be a hell yes.” He took my hand and pulled me to my feet. “Turn around.”
I turned, lifting my hair off my neck. Slowly, he pulled the zipper down my back, and the red dress fell to my feet. Stepping out of it, I suddenly felt self-conscious. I hadn’t been fully naked in front of a man without the cover of darkness in a long time. I hadn’t been fully naked in front of anyone but my ex since I was twenty—and I didn’t have that body anymore. I’d had two children. “Sylvia, I’m going to say this once,” Henry said seriously. “And then, since you’ve learned not to trust words entirely, I’m going to spend the rest of the night showing you that it’s true—I think you are the most exquisite woman on the face of the earth, in every way.
