Good Spirits

Good Spirits is out now! Thank you as always to @avonbooks for the ARC.

Sometimes you read a book that’s so wonderful it reminds you why you fell in love with the genre and this book did that for me – it just felt special. Getting to sit down and immerse myself in these magical pages felt like a treat, like an event, instead of just reading another book. BK Borison did something exceptional here.

A grumpy, touch starved, loner Ghost of Christmas past and the sunshiney woman who craves love whom he’s assigned to haunt? Yes, please. The unique premise is what caught my eye but the tender story is what has my heart.

It’s a warm and cozy romance that had me flipping through the pages, dying to find out how they could possibly be together, while simultaneously slowing myself down so I could spend as much time with them as possible.

These two have both been lacking the comfort of love, of being known, of having your people, and they found that sense of home in each other in such a beautiful way. There’s a softness to them both when they could have easily been hardened and I just really loved them both.

I just really, really, really enjoyed this magical romance!

Dream Girl Drama

Dream Girl Drama is out now! Thank you to the publisher for the ARC.

This started like a fairy tale, with a great meet cute – very instalove but in a way that felt dreamy and meant to be, that is until later that night when Sig and Chloe find out their parents are engaged to be married. Suddenly, their fledgling relationship turns out to be very forbidden in their circle.

I really liked Sig a lot – he’s a typical Tessa Bailey hero, totally, completely, out of his mind, gone for his lady. He’s willing to do anything for Chloe, sacrificing everything to afford her the spoiled lifestyle in which she’s accustomed and ensure her safety and security.

If you’re in it for the regular Tessa vibes – laugh out loud humor, steam, obsessed hero, then this one definitely has it in spades.

For me, the pining and longing were great, but ultimately, the entire plot hinged on this “forbidden” relationship that just wasn’t really that forbidden or taboo. A little weird? Maybe. It was a lot of drama about something that really wasn’t that dramatic. They could give a People magazine interview and clear the whole thing up in ten minutes.

The hints for the next book do have me excited and I’m quite looking forward to their story, even if this one wasn’t a true winner for me!
