My Take:

(ARC Review) This was a heartwarming story of a girl who has given up on love, and a boy who is convinced he’s not worthy of it. Larissa has been disappointed time and time again, so has decided to give up on dating (at least athletes anyway). Hollis has been left behind by everyone he’s ever loved and doesn’t think romantic love is in the cards for him.

They have tons of chemistry between them even though they are opposites- Hollis keeps all his feelings locked down and Larissa is an open book. Adriana writes the steamy bits like no one else and you know you never have to wait too long to get to them.

Overall I enjoyed reading it because the author’s writing style and voice is just so perfect for me. However, the insta-love was hard to believe as the characters barely knew each other. I know a lot of people love Instalove so this isn’t necessarily a bad thing for someone else. There was also pretty much no actual conflict and the little there was resolved very quickly.

There was something a little off I can’t quite place. It almost felt rushed? Or maybe incomplete. It started off great but by the end it felt a little empty.

I loved seeing the texts between River, Crew, and Hollis, they were my favorite!

How hard can it be?

That was the question rolling around Larissa Mason’s mind just before she asked Hollis Hudson to be her fake boyfriend.

It was only supposed to be for five minutes, after all.

Granted, that was also before she felt his hand on the small of her back as he charmed the heck out of her family.

She hadn’t heard his laugh yet either.

And it was definitely before she saw the football god shirtless. Otherwise, she would’ve had an idea of just how hard some things could be.

It turns out that pretending to be in love with a crazily handsome, somewhat enigmatic, and absolutely unforgettable tight end (that has an amazing tight end) is easy.

Reminding herself that just because opposites attract doesn’t mean they’re forever is much harder.

What they have isn’t love—it’s a relationship pact. Right?
