Southern Gentleman- Jessica Peterson (Review)

Southern Gentleman is the 3rd book in Jessica Peterson’s Charleston Heat series, though it can absolutely be read as a standalone. Julia and Greyson don’t see eye to eye on anything other than their desire for each other. After several hot romps in the back of Grey’s SUV, Julia winds up pregnant. Can they overcome their differences to start a family together?

I’ve loved every book in this series so far, and this is my favorite yet. The heat between the two is intense. I love the imperfect journey they go on to grow and change into a relationship that works for both of them. I love that both characters are flawed, but they grow to love each other anyway and word hard towards preserving their relationship and building a life for their baby (all while retaining their fiery spark). It was fun to see characters from the previous books and meet the characters that will (I assume) be the focus of the upcoming fourth book. 5/5 Stars

Highball Rush- Claire Kingsley (with Lucy Score)

Where to begin! It’s hard to review this book because I don’t want to reveal any secrets on accident, but I will say this: this is a perfect ending to a perfect series (See my review for book five here). All the questions you’ve had throughout the series are answered. Gibson’s in the running for my favorite Bodine but it’s a three way tie at this point with Jameson and Jonah. So many great options there. This book, and series, are so full of heart and love. Sure, there is mystery and humor aplenty, but it really comes down to love and family. I can’t recommend it highly enough

Fight Dirty- Emily Goodwin

(ARC REVIEW) Fight Dirty was bittersweet for me. On one hand, it was awesome. On the other, as far as I know this brings us to the end of the Dawson family saga and I’m going to miss them!

I’ve been intrigued by Owen’s story throughout the series, and I enjoyed it even more than I thought. “Cocky player” is not my jam, but you understand why he behaves that way as you learn more about his history with Charlie. Charlie is an educated boss of a woman who has had her heart broken twice, so she is understandably hesitant to dive back into things with Owen, especially since he was the first broken heart perpetrator. I loved watching their love story unfold as they both learned to move on from their pasts. I also love seeing all our old Dawson family characters who I’ve grown to love.  5/5 Stars

Gin Fling- Lucy Score (w/Claire Kingsley)

(ARC REVIEW) Gin Fling returns us to the world of Bootleg Springs and the Bodine family, and it is a gosh-darn delight. I love this family and this town so much. There is so much humor, heart, family, and moonshine throughout the first five books, with a mystery unraveling across each. It’s so rare to find the perfect combo and balance between mystery, humor, and romance.  I’m not sure how much to say without giving away the plot of the overarching mystery, but let’s just say it took another intriguing turn this book and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the 6th book to come out next month.

Jonah is my favorite Bodine so far, but I’m willing to fall in love with Gibson next as well.  I’ve been anxiously waiting for Jonah’s story from the beginning, and he did not disappoint. He is such a calming presence,and the perfect balance to Shelby’s more unsettled lifestyle. He’s supportive without overwhelming or overpowering. I was so glad he got some of the answers he was looking for. Shelby’s on her own journey and I always appreciate an intelligent, confident weirdo.

Do yourself a favor and check out not only this book, but the four before it, so you too can travel to the world of Bootleg Springs. 5/5 Stars.

The Locker Room- Meghan Quinn

The Locker Room is such a fun, sexy romp. Although I keep claiming I don’t love sports romances, this is a great one! Maybe I do like them and I’ve just read some not so great examples in the past. Knox Gentry is genuinely the perfect man. He is strong, confident, and patient.   Emory Ealson is relatable, feisty, and not afraid to put Knox in his place. The sparks between them are intense, even if they’re not having sex. This book genuinely has some of the hottest non-penetration I’ve ever read. Check it out if you like laugh-out-loud humor, cocky baseball players, or best friend to lover plots. 4/5 stars
