Happy Thursday! The Player + The Pact = I Do is out today. Thank you to the author for the ARC.
Any billionaire romance lovers out there?? I admit it’s not my fave trope but I found this enjoyable.
Leo, our billionaire, has been hurt before and is afraid to love again, but he is in need of a fake finance to show the woman who broke his heart that he’s totally fine without her. His assistant, Jules, steps into the role with the agreement that she can get a promotion in exchange for the ruse. This of course leads to real feelings as it tends to do!
I found it fast paced and entertaining, exactly what I want in a billionaire romance. Definitely check it out if you’re looking for these tropes:
The Boss + The Maid = Chemistry is out now! Thank you to the author for the ARC.
This was such a sexy and fun rom-com! This is a spin off of the author’s Doctors series though it reads fine as a standalone.
Efa and Bennett have a one night stand after meeting at a bar, only for her to show up as a maid at the hotel Bennett is currently residing in (and secretly owns.)
Efa is young and ballsy, she’s come to New York to get a job in tech and has no trouble going toe to toe with Bennett, who is 13 years older and tech billionaire. Bennett thinks she’s possibly stalking him after she shows up in his hotel room which was a funny misunderstanding.
The two are very hot for each other but it’s complicated with their age gap, her technically working for him and wanting a job at his tech company, and his general desire to remain anonymous.
It was spicy, funny, and I had a good time reading it!
I’m not always into office romance probably because all my years working in an office but sometimes it works! Especially if it’s an author I already like, I will still pick it up.
And look, I get it. The late hours, the forced proximity, the power dynamics, it’s hard to resist (fictionally)! Here are some that I’ve really enjoyed.
Dr Perfect is out today in KU! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is a fun, lighthearted, snowed in boss/employee romance! It’s a quick but an enjoyable read.
Dr Zach Cove, of the famed Cove family of medicine, is starting a private practice and hires Ellie to manage it. Zach is struggling with the weight of his family’s legacy while wanting to switch careers. Ellie is trying to escape her past decisions and hit her goals for the future so she is determined to be the best office manager she can be, even if that means transporting papers to her new boss at his holiday cottage in Scotland. The two are unexpectedly snowed in together for a few days and boy do sparks fly.
It’s a quick moving story on the insta-love side, and I enjoyed how easy reading it was. Sometimes it’s nice to read a quick getaway story, you know? It’s not angst heavy but does pack in some emotion. I enjoyed seeing the Cove family all together and am looking forward to the next story!
I’ve read and loved everything Louise Bay has published and this is no exception. She takes the normal romance tropes and takes them to a new sophisticated level. They always feel like romances for adults – not that they are NC-17 or anything but they feature adults with adult problems and adult reactions.
Mr Knightsbridge was all I wanted and more- it takes your standard Louise Bay novel and kicks it up a notch- even funnier and sexier than normal, while retaining her signature swoon and heart.
Dexter was perfect. Steady, determined, knows what he’s doing in bed. Though he’s built up a past relationship in his head, assuming love lightening won’t strike twice, he is still perfect a perfect boyfriend even before he realizes that’s what’s happening. I think I felt actual jealousy that I don’t have a boyfriend like this.
Hollie was young and bright and talented. She was a bit too hung up on where she came from, but I sort of get it. Though no one cares what type of abode you grew up in, it’s harder to separate your past while you still have one foot in it.
Over all- loved it! 4.5/5 stars. ARC was received for review purposes but all opinions are my own.
Blurb:
Dexter Daniels prefers gems over women. Emeralds over girlfriends. Diamonds over marriage.
He might be the most successful jeweler of his generation, a loyal friend and some say the most handsome man in London, but his past means he doesn’t deal in love.
When Hollie Lumen enters the ballroom where exquisite royal jewels are on display, she brings Dexter’s world to a screeching halt. Despite her hand-me-down dress and borrowed shoes, Hollie is even more stunning than the jewelry. Feisty, funny and ferociously independent, she’s all Dexter can see.
Hollie Lumen can’t catch a break. She thought an internship in London was her chance to escape her responsibilities back in Oregon and for her dreams to come true. When she’s fired only a few weeks after touching down, she’s ready to give up and go home. Hollie never asks for help. She knows the only person she can rely on is herself.
So what’s she going to do about the tall, dark, handsome stranger who keeps rescuing her?
She’s going to rescue him right back.
About the Author:
USA Today bestselling author, Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind she likes to read. Her books include the novels Faithful (not currently on sale as undergoing maintenance!), Hopeful, The Empire State Series, The Royals Series, The Nights Series (both series of standalone books each following different characters) and the standalone Gentleman series.
Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, Louise loves all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films.
Louise loves the rain, The West Wing, London, days when she doesn’t have to wear make-up, being on her own, being with friends, elephants and champagne.
Stella London gets some devastating news about her boyfriend and her best friend. And things just keep getting worse, until she gets the offer of a lifetime from the most unexpected man.

Being labelled a player never stopped me from being successful with women. Until I met Truly Harbury.
Truly was the first girl who ever turned me down.
The first female friend I ever had.
And she might just be the first woman I ever fall in love with.
When an emergency means she needs my help running her family’s charity, I’m happy to introduce her to the glitz and glamour of the London business world—taking her to dinners, coaching her through speeches, zipping up the sexy evening gown I helped her pick out.
The more time we spend together, the more I want to convince her I’m not a man to avoid, that we’re not as unsuited as she believes.
She sees herself as the book-reading, science-loving introvert while I’m the dangerous, outgoing, charmer. She thinks I love parties and people whereas she prefers pajamas and a takeaway. What she doesn’t realize is that I like everything about her–the way her smile lights up a room, how her curves light up my imagination, and especially the way her lips taste when coated with tequila.
She’s the first woman I ever fell in love with. I just need to know if she could ever love me too.
