Rose In Chains

Rose In Chains is out today! Thank you to the publisher for the early review copy.

Loved loved loved this wild ride. I’ve loved every Julie Soto book I’ve read and this was no exception.

Some of my favorite parts:

The world building was excellent and it kept me interested. I was dying to find out what was going on (instead of bored and skimming like I often do in fantasy)

The forced proximity!

The strong, smart, competent FMC!

The morally great hero!

The slow burn romance!

I am dying for more from this world already! Julie Soto really can do it all.

Side Note – I haven’t read the author’s fan fic so I can’t compare it to the original story but I would never in a million years been about to tell this was based on fanfic of that certain world (the heroine was smart, the hero had silvery hair, they had magic, and that’s about it.) so I feel comfortable reading and supporting it despite very much not supporting the transphobic author of the original work.

Bull Moon Rising

What a fun new world from Ruby Dixon! Thank you to the publisher for the ARC.

I’ve got to be honest, I thought this was just going to be minotaur romance and didn’t think too much deeper about it but it turns out it’s one part fantasy, one part romance, and one part adventure which adds up to a pretty exciting new series!

It’s a fantastical world, full of magical artifacts and those that hold them are like the aristocracy of the world. Aspeth is the sheltered daughter of a holder on the brink of ruin. She decides to join the Royal Artifact Guild to hunt down more artifacts to save her father and their land, but it’s not as easy as she assumed it would be and ends up marrying a minotaur teacher who will sponsor her going through Guild training.

I really enjoyed it! It took me a little bit to get into which is true of all fantasy (especially when I didn’t realize it was fantasy going into it) but I finally got into it and really enjoyed both Aspeth and Hawk. Aspeth was a bit chaotic, she had a lot of spunk and a can-do attitude without a lot of street smarts or practicality, while Hawk was starchy and buttoned up and super competent.

I also really enjoyed the side characters and there was a real found family between them all that I loved. You get action, adventure, and a slow burn romance that leads to some heat so I was very pleased!

I look forward to more from this world!

A Dawn of Gods & Fury – KA Tucker

A Dawn Of Gods & Fury is out today! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a stunning conclusion to an epic series!

I’m going to keep this review short, because I cannot talk about the plot without spoilers so I will just say I loved it! It was everything I wanted it to be.

Told in many POVs, we finally get the answers to the questions that have been building throughout the series. We also get action and adventure, humor and sadness, love and war.

It is a thick book, with a lot of chapters, but it moved really quickly for me as I was dying to find out what would happen.

I’m not a romantasy fan in general, but I’ve honestly enjoyed this journey so much and I will happily read whatever KA Tucker writes!

A Queen of Thieves & Chaos

Well, KA Tucker has done it again. She’s masterfully woven a complex and magical tale that is both epic and intimate at the same time, full of love and war, twists and turns, and enough intrigue to keep you guessing.

This book picks up right where book two left off, but with the addition of the POV of more characters. The stakes are as high as ever, the opposing kingdoms are on the brink of war yet again, and everyone can feel the electricity of change in the air.

This book made me laugh, cry, and had me on the edge of my seat. Though their reality is a bit dark and scary, I still appreciated that love could still find a way (and not just Romeria and Zander this time). There was humor in the face of danger, and Jarek has cemented himself as my favorite character of the series.

Though this did start off a little slowly for me, I thoroughly enjoyed it once I remembered what was going on and the plot hit its stride. I hate to be the person that begs for the next book before the current book has had its chance to shine but I’m dying for book four now! I can’t wait to see where this stunning series goes.
