Mid Year Favorites

Whew can you believe this year is halfway done already? Like what?? 🤯

I’ve read 180 books so far this year (which I fully acknowledge is a silly amount) and here are my favorites so far! Ten 2023 releases and two backlist reads. The awesome thing is that I got to meet six of these authors this year (Lucy, Teagan, Abby, Karla, Sarina, and Christina Lauren) and hang out with book friends! How cool is that?

8 Vegas Wedding Romance Recommendations

Marriage of Convenience gets a lot of well deserved hype, but I also love its drunken little sister, Oops!-we-got-married-in-Vegas. The regret, the hangover, the awkward aftermath, the eventual feelings and trying to figure out how to make the marriage work in the real world – I love it all.

Neutral Zone

Here’s a little #MessyMonday stack of the Carolina Comets by Teagan Hunter

I love this series! It’s just exactly what I want in sports romance. The friendships and joking between teammates, hot romances, excellent banter, and just a little bit of the actual sport.

Neutral Zone is book seven in the series, between Fitz and Rosie. They know each other in real life, but unbeknownst to Rosie, she also talks to Fitz online where he follows her cam girl account. 

I love that Fitz was kind of a shy, awkward character. Normally professional athletes tend to be shown as more confident but I loved that he didn’t think he was good enough for the girl who serves him his coffee. Rosie was the bolder character, recently discovering her sexy side after being put down for her curves previously.

Together they were adorable, but also yowza this one was sizzling hot. To be fair, every book in this series is spicy, but this one was a little kinkier than the rest so felt extra spicy. 

If you are looking for a funny and sexy sports romance series, I can’t recommend the Carolina Comets enough, out now in KU. It’s probably complete (for now), but a spin off series is coming soon!

Glove Save

Is there anything better than hilarious banter? For me, no. 

I’ve really enjoyed this series and this might be my favorite one yet! (Ok, maybe it’s still Blind Pass). I honestly can’t remember the last time I grabbed a book on its release day then sat down and actually read it the same day instead of letting it languish on my kindle for weeks to years before picking it up, but I was so excited for this one I read it all in one sitting that evening! Then ordered the paperback!

Greer is the goalie for the Carolina Comets, and while I didn’t love him in the previous book, I ended up loving him here because he was an absolute grump in the best possible way (but also kind of a momma’s boy.) Stevie is a single mom who gets along with everyone, except Greer, so I loved how he kept pushing her buttons and causing the sweet woman to snap. 

Their banter was amazing, I genuinely laughed out loud so many times. Greer also had a hilarious relationship with Stevie’s daughter, and I loved that he was kind of grumpy with her as well but she wasn’t having it. 

There’s plenty of steam, lots of cameos from the characters of books past, and I’m excited for more from this series! It’s really snuck up on me to become a favorite and I can’t wait for more.
