My Life In Shambles- Karina Halle

Ohhhhh my I loved this! Karina’s one of my favorite authors and Ireland’s one of my favorite places so I knew this book was gonna be good for me. And I was right! It’s sexy, emotional, dramatic, funny, and also did I say sexy?

Karina has a way of really bringing you into the moment and I felt all the emotions. Even when I wanted to shake Padraig for being a jerk, I never disliked him. Valerie’s warmth and optimism were wonderful and engaging.

A lot of the topics in this book were quite heavy, and I felt they were covered with a sensitive hand. Although there was a bit of angst just due to the topics, it wasn’t dragged down into depressing territory. The book remained engaging and humorous throughout. 5/5 stars

If you love angst, this is the book for you!  The story is about two unlikely people who came together in a time where they both needed each other, then were torn apart by circumstances. 15 years later they are thrown together again.

The good news: The book is well written, you really feel for Eleanor and her steadfast devotion and loyalty to those she loves is admirable.

However, sometimes it felt like it was just angsty for angst’s sake rather than actually moving the plot along. I know some of you loooooove angst, so this is a great one for you! Genuinely, its a good book if you love angst, second chances, emotion, grief, and cold leading men, then I recommend it.

Gaining Miles- Claire Kingsley

This is obviously a story written as a treat for fans of the series already, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it on its own. But considering I am a huge fan of the series, I loved it. It doesn’t have an overly elaborate plot, but it is a sweet story about two characters we’ve grown to know and love throughout the series and how they get their HEA. Ben is such a strong, steady character I especially enjoyed learning more about him and his backstory. It wraps up the series in a lovely, soft, romantic way.

There is also bonus content at the end that sets up the author’s next series which I am very much looking forward to.

I very much recommend this if you’re a fan of the series, you will not be disappointed.

And if you’re not a fan of the series (yet)? Now’s the time! The full series is available now on KU and it is so worth your time. It’s got romance, heat, mystery, humor, and an awesome family dynamic.
