ARC REVIEW Crazy Beautiful Love is the next book in the Dirty Dicks series about the Allen family in small town Heaven, Texas. We first met Tess Walker as Monroe’s best friend, who is engaged to one of Beau Allen’s brothers. Tess hides her mysterious past, but one thing she can’t conceal is that she hates Beau Allen. Beau is a world renowned photographer who has spent his adult life traveling around the world with no inclination to settle down and plant roots like his brothers and sister until Tess causes him to reevaluate.

Tess’ mysterious past slowly unveils itself, and although it could have been very angsty due to the heavy topics, it’s all handled gracefully without dragging down the lighter nature of the book. I really liked Beau, he’s a steady, constant force for Tess, and a great book boyfriend for us.  The chemistry between them was great. My only complaint, and it’s a very minor one, is there was no real conflict in the book. The only hurdle is they both were afraid to confess their feelings. I still found it super enjoyable to read, and liked getting to know the main characters, and revisiting the family from the previous books. 4/5 stars

Do you ever have trouble reading a book because you love it so much you have to keep putting it down so it doesn’t end? Yeah, that.

Amelia Hall has never been kissed.  She rarely goes out, and keeps close to only her fellow Red Lipstick Coalition babes. When she meets sexy bad boy of the publishing world Thomas Bane, he challenges her in ways she couldn’t turn down: marrying him to help clean up his reputation in exchange for an opportunity for the job of her dreams.

Amelia is a compelling character, not one I can necessarily relate to on a personal level, but one I can certainly understand what drives her choices.  Tommy, however, is the perfect book boyfriend. He’s a hot, broody bad boy with a heart of gold. He lays all his cards out at the beginning, which I appreciate. I don’t always need a ton of angst and guessing about intention. I enjoyed the slow burn relationship, the pacing felt real. I really liked the way the characters brought out the best in each other, especially Amelia’s change into a more confident adult.  The sparks between them were evident at the start, but Tommy’s patience and understanding were really the hot part to me.

I highly highly recommend this one, or any other book by Staci for that matter. It’s just a perfect example of what a contemporary romance novel should be: full of heart, heat, and humor.  5/5 stars

The Consequence of Falling- Claire Contreras

Presley and Nathaniel have hated each other for years. He’s a knowitall mentored by her father. She is a spoiled princess who doesn’t  appreciate it when her father takes Nathaniel on as a new owner/investor to the family business. They have to learn to work together, without driving each other crazy, while also negotiating Presley’s divorce, her father’s illness, and all the stresses of running a successful business.

I enjoyed the banter between the two as the relationship moved from hate to love.  The chemistry between them was evident, and I enjoyed the plot and secondary characters.  My main issue with this book is that I just could not stand Presley. She went from a rich family to marrying a rich man to be handed a great job at her dad’s company, and didn’t appreciate any of it.  She was a spoiled princess throughout as Nathaniel correctly pointed out. I still liked the book, Nathaniel especially, I just couldn’t get over my dislike of her. If that sort of thing doesn’t bother you, then I definitely recommend the book because aside from her attitude, I enjoyed everything else about it. 3/5 stars

The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister- Meghan Quinn

Bram Scott has had feelings for his best friend’s younger sister since college. The only problem? Julia has never shown any interest in him, and besides, he has his wild oats to sow. He’s made a name for himself among the New York real estate scene, and now he’s ready to settle down.  Julia Westin has also made a name for herself in an entirely different manner. I love Meghan Quinn’s writing style, she really nails the romcom genre. The book is funny and sexy, even though the sex part doesn’t come in until late in the book. It’s a quick, fun, lighthearted read.  That being said, I wanted to shake the stupid out of both main characters. Bram, for not manning up to tell her how he feels, and wasting all her time going through the matchmaking process when he had no intention of ever dating. Julia, for having her head in the sand and not realizing that Bram had feelings for her.

If you are looking for something funny and breezy, I recommend it, just don’t expect complex and logical development. I do hope there are further books in this world, I’m looking forward to seeing more from Rath and especially Roark.   For a romcom standpoint, I give it 3.5/5 stars

Nothing Personal- Karina Halle

Nove Lane lives in paradise, but her life is anything but perfect. Her less than stellar boyfriend cheated on her on vacation, and when she returns to work she discovers that A. Her boss quit unexpectedly B. His position is being filled by the very man who caused her to flee to paradise in the first place.

This is a bit of a departure from Karina Halle’s normal work. It’s sillier, lighter, and genuinely pretty darn funny. The sparks between Nova and Kessler are great (I love a good fight-turned sex scene) and I love the sweet emerging relationship between Kessler and his son. Sometimes it’s nice to have an angst free romp and let a book whisk you away to a fantasy land. If you like a good rom com with a side of paradise, I highly recommend it. I aloha this book. 5/5 Stars

ARC Review

Scarlet Cooper is used to lying, cheating, and stealing in order to support her family. Left with no other option but to work for him anyway, she slowly finds herself falling for both Weston, and his cute son Jackson.

The chemistry between Scarlet and Weston was crackling from their first meeting, and I always appreciate a cute kid. It was enjoyable seeing characters from the first two books in the Dawson family series (Cheat Codes and End Games).  I liked seeing Scarlet’s growth and change throughout the book. My only issue is Weston was maybe a little too quick to forgive and accept, especially considering his career, but I guess morality is fluid and its not like Scarlet didn’t have reason for her “sins.”

Overall I found it very enjoyable. 4/5 stars
